“Science on Screen” at the Gables Cinema

The first Science on Screen event on Tuesday, March 18 at 7:00 pm includes a special showing of Annette Bening and Ed Harris’ new romantic “dopplegänger” mystery “The Face of Love,” and an introduction and Q&A about the film and its relationship to human genetics with Dr. Susan Blanton, Associate Director of the John P. Hussman Institute for Human Genomics and Associate Professor of Neurology at the University of Miami. Dr. Blanton will bridge the gap between science and art using insights from her research in human genetics to discuss the reality of “doubles,” the diversity and variation among human populations, and just how similar we are across race and ethnic divides. The “Science on Screen” program bridges the gap between art and science with carefully curated scientist and film pairings that bring the best and brightest in South Florida together.
