NANO Fiction accepts submissions of flash fiction, reviews of flash fiction, and short essays about flash fiction.
From the site: “NANO Fiction is currently accepting previously unpublished works of fiction 300 words or fewer. We are looking for work that experiments with form while still balancing narrative. We are interested in stories we haven’t read before, stories we think we are tired of reading–but are told in such in a new way that we gain fresh insights, writing remain attentive to language and lyricism without abandoning story, and work that surprise us–but not by using a trick ending. We also are looking for writing that takes unexpected perspectives on commonly-seen stories.”
Additionally: “We are looking for the best, brightest, and queerest fictions for our spring 2016 issue. As always we want short, beautiful, and compelling work. And for this issue we want all that and more. Representation matters. We want your flash fiction that deals in the breadth of LGBTQIA experience, and work that combats typical erasures. So send queer characters of color. Send us gender-queer characters. Send us thoughtfully rendered aromantics, aesexuals, and intersex persons. Send us everyone and every story in between. We look forward to reading your work.”
Payment: Two copies of the issue in which you are published and $20 per published piece
