The Creative Writing Program of the University of Miami is thrilled to welcome Becka Mara McKay to read at USpeak Monday, October 26 at Books & Books, Coral Gables.
Becka Mara McKay directs the Creative Writing MFA at Florida Atlantic University, writes poetry, and translates Hebrew literature. Publications include a book of poetry: A Meteorologist in the Promised Land, three translations of Israeli fiction: Laundry, Blue Has No South, Lunar Savings Time; and a translation of Hebrew poetry in the book Kaleidoscope. She has twice been nominated for a Pushcart Prize and has received grants from the Seattle Arts Council, the American Literary Translators Association, and the Santa Fe Arts Institute.
The University of Miami is happy to team up with co-sponsor Books & Books this year and all USpeak events will be held at Books & Books 265 Aragon Avenue, Coral Gables at 7:00PM in order to bring the University of Miami out into the community.
The USpeak Flash Fiction and Poetry Performance Series, free and open to the public, is sponsored in part by the University of Miami’s College of Arts and Sciences and the English Department’s Creative Writing Program and Mangrove Literary Journal.
