About

Who We Are

The Miami Grindstone is a solitary collective, a group designed to bring people together to work on their individual projects in a supportive environment. While we are primarily writers, we welcome anyone who wants to hang out with us and get stuff done, be it homework, graphic design, knitting–anything you can do in a coffee shop with free wi-fi.

Where/When We Meet

Currently, we meet on the second and fourth Sundays of every month at 1pm. Extra meetings are added on occasion by request.

What We Do (and Don’t Do)

We work in sprints, in which we set a timer for ten or fifteen minutes, and devote ourselves wholly to our projects for that time. Between sprints, we chat about life, the universe and everything, usually while chowing down or drinking caffeinated beverages.

We’re not a reading group or a critique group, though people are welcome to exchange work if they like. Our focus is on Getting Things Done, on providing that elusive butt-in-chair time that can be so hard to carve out of our busy schedules.

How Can I Join?

Just show up ready to work. No forms, no contracts, no red tape.
